Leicester City is a strange scenario. When you feel
that everything is so positive after a number of great geams, everything
goes to the floor with a "bang" and then everything looks totally black
again.
The fact that City are through to the 5th round of the FA Cup is of
course great and to go down to Carrow Road to try to compete with a
Premier League club for the next round, is of course also a bonus.
But the game against Brighton shows that nothing is really 100 % and
after draw against Middlesbrough, confidence is not lifted and the next
game is lost. This is not the first time and it looks as if, no one can
manage to keep the momentum.
No manager since Martin O'Neill has managed that, and we all see what
the little magician is doing at Sunderland at the moment. He is lifting
confidence and doing what most managers around have trouble with. being
able to get the players you've got to perform and get better.
When we see City players play, you get so frustrated, because most of
them are on a good level of performance but they are so easy to controll
and can vanish in games, so you cannot really believe that it was the
same bloke the week before.
Kasper Schmeichel is a great goalkeeper and one that has been concistent.
And concistancy is the key to performances. It's not like the way we see
Paul Gallagher. A player at his best, fantastic, but his lowest level is
more like a catastrophy.
The new signigs done by Nigel Pearson looks ok one by one, but why sign
Wes Morgan. City have four central defenders at the moment.
Speculations are that NP will not get much more money, if he is not able
to sell players. If City don't go up this season players might leave and
that could be one good reason to sign Morgan, can't see any other.
Danny Drinkwater is a good player and played against us for Barnsley
when he was spotted by NP. Since his move to Leicester, he has not
really shown waht is needed to be a 100 % starter in this team.
The signing of 20 year old Ben Marshall must be regarded as a signing to
fill the squad. Marshall was signed from Stoke, after impressing for
Sheffield Wednesday in League 1, and a good prospect, but certainly not
a player that will lead us into the Premier Leauge.
TCF is worried that this looks more like a new consolidation, a new
route, with a long term ambition to one time in the future be able to
reach the Premier League, but it certainly don't look like a club that
are pushing hard for promotion.
So what is the scope at Leicester City ?
