Akinbiyi became a famous player when he
joined Leicester as the most expensive signing ever. Leicester
manager at the time Peter Taylor payed Wolves £ 5.5 million for his
services, but Akinbiyi never managed to shine.
Akinbiyi scored 11 goals in 58 games for Leicester. He left City and
joined Crystal Palace.
He made his league debut for City in a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa
in August 2000.
Akinbiyi later enjoyed succesful spells with Stoke, Sheff Utd and
Burnley.
